Business Volunteers for the Arts (BVA)
Business Volunteers for the Arts (BVA) is A&BC’s longest-running service for Chicago-area arts organizations. The BVA service recruits and trains experienced business professionals as volunteers, and then matches them to serve pro bono on consulting projects for small-to-medium sized nonprofit arts organizations throughout the Chicago area. A&BC’s BVA consultants are highly qualified professionals with a minimum of five years of managerial experience and a commitment to working closely with arts organizations on a project basis.

Business Volunteers for the Arts (BVA) work in consulting groups of two to four and lend their time and talents to work with your staff and board on a variety of business-related projects, including:
- Job Descriptions/Organizational Chart
- Market Research
- Marketing and Branding Plans
- Operational Analyses
- Strategic Plans
- Board/Staff Retreat Facilitations
- Board Roles/Responsibilities
- Business Plans
- Communication Plans
- Financial Plans
- Human Resources
*BVA projects do not include: Legal, Fundraising, Graphic Design, IT, or Board Recruitment Plans
BVA projects typically last between 2-6 months. The actual time commitment depends on the nature of the project, but all parties agree on an anticipated outcome and completion date at an initial project meeting. There is a flat $250 fee per project to cover administrative costs. This fee is nonrefundable.

Applying for a BVA team requires that you be an active client of A&BC. To become a client, please complete this NEW CLIENT APPLICATION. If you are already a client and would like to apply for a BVA team, please complete this short PROJECT PROPOSAL FORM. New Client Applications and BVA Project Proposals are accepted on an ongoing basis.
